I've never been one to write reviews on "anything", but I felt this product deserved some special attention. I spent 36 years in the US Army and have used all kinds/types of optics. Some were very good, while others weren't so good, and that's the simple description. I currently own several sets of binoculars and have always had a bit of enthusiasm and curiosity when it comes to optics quality. This is especially true when it comes to "Zoom" type optics with a wider range of magnification than standard binoculars. There's no way I could list all the different manufacturers and models I own here, but I will say that I purchased two other sets of binoculars within a few weeks of buying these. They were the Barska 20x32 and Bushnell Powerview 16x32. So, I will keep this review in comparison to just these two other manufacturers and models. The Barsk and Bushnell binoculars both had images that were difficult to stabilize and the brightness (light gathering capabilities) were very bad. I mention this simply because both of these other binoculars have a larger Objective lens than the Nikon Aculons, yet the Nikon binoculars out performed them in every aspect! I was actually pleasantly surprised at just how bright, and stable, the image in these Nikon binoculars is. I've owned several pair of zoom style binoculars, some with a very large zoom magnification, and have found that, in most cases, after you go above the magnification of about 16X, you need a rather large objective lens. However, even a large objective lens is not enough, in many cases, to allow more light through and give a more crisp image quality. Lenses need to be multi-coated, prisms need to be of very good quality, and even some manufacturers have a means of amplifying the light coming through the objective lenses and reflecting that back onto the image for the viewer to see a more bright and crisp image. In short.......it's not very easy to find a "good" set of binoculars with a large zoom magnification whereas you can see a bright image with a "reasonable" field of view past 16X. These Nikon 8-24x25 Aculon Zoom Binoculars performed very well, and even with the smaller 25mm objective lens. After viewing objects out to about 300 meters with the other binoculars mentioned above, and then swapping to these Nikon binoculars and viewing the same objects, the difference is as noticeable as night and day! These Nikon binoculars had a much brighter image, which was very "crisp" all the way up to the highest zoom setting of 24X and the image was even more stable at that high power than the other binoculars mentioned above, and several other binoculars I owned previously. Generally, if you wanted a very good pair of zoom binoculars with all these qualities, you would need to spend well over $ 1000 or more. For the price, I haven't found any binoculars that compare with these Nikon Aculons, and as I mentioned already, I have used and owned many different types, and still own many. These are plenty small enough to carry in a pair of cargo pants, or a small handbag. I would recommend these binoculars for any type of bird watching, target monitoring on any shooting range out well past 500 meters, and for virtually any other activity one might need a good set of compact zoom binoculars for. Don't take my word for it and don't pay any attention to these other reviews that have negative things to say about these. I can assure you they are well worth the price and you won't be disappointed. I am probably the hardest critic of anyone when it comes to things I spend my hard earned money on, and if I had anything bad to say about these, rest assured that i'd lay it all out here. But, for the price.....you won't find anything better than these in a compact multi zoom binocular.

I'm going on a trip and wanted to take a pair of binoculars that were of good quality and did not cost to much in case they were lost or stolen. This Nikon product fits the bill. They work very well and hand-held focusing is fine up to about 12X. Beyond that, you will need to rest them against something stable so there is no body shake

I bought this pair of binoculars for my husband for Christmas. This pair replaces a Nikon Travelite III (8 x 25) that we used for many years but that was damaged by dropping. The travelite III had been taped back together with duct tape and was still being used successfully before I bought this new binocular.

My husband likes the feature that allows you to zoom in on an object after you have focused on a larger field. We have a 140 acre farm and have sheep and goats that graze over the farm, plus wild life. The binoculars allow us to check on the animals from the house and respond appropriately if we see danger or distress. The Travelite III allowed us to check on the animals in a field of vision and then try to focus a bit closer to see if there was actually a problem -- maybe it was just a stump I was seeing from the window. However, with the Aculon we can actually focus up close and see what's really going on, instead of guessing. This will save us a lot of false trips walking out to the pasture to check on our flock -- especially during lambing season.

It's perfect for our needs as farmers. And wild life watchers. For me, the red colour of this pair was a selling feature. It means that the binoculars are easier to find if you lay them down in the grass or on a rock. The black binoculars are harder to find in the shadows.

I have a lot of Nikon camera gear and so was happy to go with Nikon for a light pair of binos for hiking (I use Leica for dedicated birding). The zoom feature meant I could use the wide end for scanning the path/route ahead and zoomed in for birds/wildlife. That was the theory.
In reality the front (see the black plastic on the front of the binos) decorative piece fell off on first use. On the second day the zoom lever became stuck and it took some muscle (fearfully pushing the lever expecting it to break at any time) to get it back to around x12 (it still won't go back to x8). Within a week the eyepiece on the left hand size has become so loose that even the gentle pressure of my forehead causes it to move inwards (and so out of focus) and means I need to constantly adjust it after/during every viewing - extremely frustrating since I have to break away from viewing to readjust.

They are surprisingly sharp though naturally not as bright as good binos except in good light, however the atrocious quality issues mean they are only fit for the rubbish bin now. A total waste of my money.

The style, color, size, case and weight are all pluses. However, it is not that easy to focus these. They should have put the focus button closer to the eyes. I also have the view disappear altogether for seconds at a time until I make some adjustment to it. These will be going back. Too bad.

Good pair of binoculars. The zoom is helpful and the focus dial is conveniently located. Adjustable eye width is very helpful. The only issue is that the eyepieces are sometimes difficult to line up with my eyes. Maybe needs some eye light shields on the eyepieces.
